In papermaking, microcrystalline wax is primarily used as a water- and moisture-repellent agent, a sizing aid, and a paraffin modifier. It is added through impregnation, coating, or pulping to enhance the paper’s water resistance, flexibility, and printability.
Water and Moisture Repellency: Leveraging its high melting point and hydrophobic properties, it forms a dense protective film on the fiber surface, significantly reducing moisture absorption and water permeability.
Sizing Substitute: Emulsified microcrystalline wax can partially replace traditional resin sizing agents, improving the uniformity of sizing agent distribution and enhancing printing efficiency.
Heat Sealing and Anti-Sticking: When used in packaging paper coatings, it provides excellent heat sealing performance and anti-sticking properties.
